What kinds of films are there?

There are different types of films, there are children films, teen films and adult films. Children films are usually released in school holidays when children are off school and parents want to get a break from them and usually go to the cinema to entertain their children. Teen films also come out in school holidays and are usually made to attract teens to watch them. Adult films are usually released on weekends when adults get a break from their work and then can relax with a new film.

How many are sequels?

Most of these films are sequels. Star Wars is a sequel and it was a huge blockbuster as it has been awaited for many years due to its huge popularity. Jurassic World wasn't a sequel as such because it is basically a modern version of the old original Jurassic Park. Avengers:Age of Ultron is a sequel. Inside Out is not a sequel and neither is Daddy's Home. Furious 7 is a sequel of Fast and Furious.

How many are blockbusters aimed at a younger audience?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is aimed at a huge target audience, it is aimed as at a young audience as well as an older audience. Jurassic World is aimed at a younger audience but its also appealing to other audiences. Avengers: Age of Ultron is also aimed at a younger audience. Inside Out is also aimed at a younger audience. Furious 7 and Daddy's Home are both aimed at an older audience.

How many were produced by the Big Six?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is made by one of the big 6, LucasFilm is the company that make Star Wars but in 2012 Disney bough them for $4.05 billion. So Star Wars: The Force Awakens is made by one of the Big 6. Jurassic World was made by Universal Pictures which is one of the big 6. Avengers: Age of Ultron is again made by one of the big 6, it was made by Marvel Studios, and Disney is its parent organisation. Inside Out is another one made by one of the big 6, it was made by Disney. Furious 7 was made by Universal Pictures which is one of the big 6. Finally Daddy's Home is made by 'A Gary Sanchez Production' and Paramount so all of these 6 films are made by the big 6.

What kinds of films seem to be missing?

The type of films that seem to missing is Horror, there are a lot of Thrillers, Action and Comedy but Horror doesn't seem to come up at all.

Cinema has a huge influence on how much money a film will make from the takings at cinemas across the globe but as technology develops and more and more ways of watching films becomes available this could change...This survey shows how the target audience between the ages of 15-25 and how they consume films.
